Lexi Ladders – Climb from One Word to the Next
Turn a five-letter word into a six-rung ladder. Each step changes exactly one letter. Every rung must be a real word. No repeats. The app will not lock a move that cannot finish the climb.
How it works
A word sits on the top row of a 6×5 board. Tap the letter you want to change, pick a new letter, and the next word drops in. Keep going until the sixth row is complete. A full dictionary plus lookahead search decide whether that step still leaves a path to the end—so you spend time finding words, not dying on row five.
Three ways to play
-- Freestyle — Reach any valid sixth word. On Moderate and Difficult you may not change the same letter position twice in a row. Easy drops that rule so you can learn the board.
-- Target — The last word is set for you. Thread a path that lands on that exact word on rung six.
-- JoinUp — Several people play the same Difficult Target on their own devices. One player deals a game number; the others type it. Start together, compare times, claim the win, then step to the next shared puzzle. No internet. No accounts.
Difficulty
-- Easy — Wider choice. Two hints. No column rule in Freestyle.
-- Moderate — Fewer paths. One hint. Column rule on in Freestyle.
-- Difficult — Tight ladders. No hints. Column rule on in Freestyle.
JoinUp is always Difficult Target. Starts and destinations come from pre-checked lists so every deal can be finished.
Hints, when you need them
A hint lists the next words that can still complete the stack, grouped by which letter they change. Tap a hint to play that word. Easy and Moderate give a limited budget. Difficult and JoinUp are on you.
Your pace, your record
There is no countdown. The clock only records how long you took. Stats keep finished games and average times for Freestyle and Target at each level, plus JoinUp games and average time. Total usage counts only while the app is in front of you—not while the phone is asleep.

It is a word ladder with a referee. You still have to find the words; the engine only refuses moves that cannot reach a sixth rung or the target. JoinUp turns that into a same-room race without a server. No ads, no video gates, no purchase required to finish a ladder.
