About this app
Webmaster turns your phone into the watchman for your websites. Enter your addresses once and the app checks them on its own, from your own device. When a site really goes down, you get an alert. Nothing else is sent anywhere.
WHY THIS ONE IS DIFFERENT
Most monitoring apps live on someone else's server and need an account. Webmaster does the checking on your phone. Your site list, your check history and your incident log never leave the device, and the app has no analytics, no advertising and no tracking libraries inside it. The Data safety section on this page says "No data collected" because that is literally true.
NO MORE FALSE ALARMS
A single missed response is not an outage. Webmaster confirms a problem with consecutive failed checks before it wakes you, and it stays silent when the phone itself is offline, on a captive portal or between networks. You choose how many failures count, and you can require a site to be down for a minimum number of minutes before any alert goes out. When the site recovers you get a short notice telling you how long it was down.
UP, BUT DEAD FOR GOOGLE
A site can answer with a perfect 200 and still be invisible in search. Once a day Webmaster looks for the accidents that quietly cost traffic:
- SSL certificate about to expire, with a countdown
- an accidental noindex left on the page or in the response headers
- a robots.txt that closes the whole site to search engines
- a page that answers but returns an almost empty body
RECORDS THAT BUILD UP
- Uptime for the last 24 hours, 7 days and 30 days
- A day-by-day strip for the last 30 days
- Monthly log with uptime and total downtime per month
- Your longest unbroken run, fastest response and total downtime this year
TWO SPEEDS, HONESTLY EXPLAINED
- Quiet mode, the default: a check at least every 15 minutes. Android may delay background work when the phone is idle, and we say so instead of promising otherwise.
- Vigilant mode, optional: checks about every 60 seconds with a persistent notification you can stop at any time. While the phone is in deep sleep Android allows roughly one check every nine minutes, and the app tells you that too.
RELIABILITY DOCTOR
Phone manufacturers are the real enemy of background apps. The Doctor screen detects when your phone has paused monitoring, sends a test alert so you can confirm notifications work, and gives brand specific instructions for Samsung, Xiaomi, Huawei and OnePlus devices.
