Spit is the classic real-time card game — also called Speed or Slam — reborn as a cat-and-mouse chase. You are the Mouse. Across the table sits a scheming Cat. There are no turns and there is no waiting: you both play at once, racing to empty your piles first.

HOW TO PLAY SPIT
Two cards flip face-up into the centre lanes. From your own row you play any card that sits one rank above or below a centre pile — a 7 goes onto a 6 or an 8 — and the ranks wrap around, so an Ace plays onto a King. There is no turn order. Spot a match, drop it, keep moving, and the Cat is doing exactly the same thing on the other side of the table. When neither of you can move, you both Spit: two fresh cards flip onto the lanes and the race restarts.

A STORY IN FIVE WORLDS
Fifteen levels along one winding road, from the Kitchen through the Back Alley, the Attic and the City Rooftops to the Big Cheese Factory. Clear every level in a world and the next one opens, each guarded by a tougher cat than the last. Every level also earns 1-3 stars, if a clean sweep is what you are after.

A NEW RULE AS YOU GO
The rules keep shifting as you climb. An open middle lane that either of you can start with any card. Wild joker cheese that plays on anything, then becomes the rank above or below. Freeze cheese that locks the Cat's piles for a few seconds. And No Wrap, where a King no longer plays onto an Ace and the ends of the deck turn into dead ends.

QUICK PLAY: PICK YOUR SPEED
One dial, five steps: Gentle, Steady, Brisk, Fast, Ruthless. Gentle is open from the first tap; beat a Story cat of a faster band and that speed unlocks on the dial for keeps. The Cat you face is the one that speed deserves, from a fumbling Kitten to the Ruthless Tom who never makes a mistake.

RACE THE CLOCK
Every speed keeps its own leaderboard, ranked on time alone. Beat the Gentle board and the Ruthless board is still waiting.

A CARD GAME FOR SHORT BREAKS
Rounds are quick, the whole game is single player, and it runs fully offline against the Cat — no wifi, no login, no waiting for an opponent to take their turn. Contains ads.

The older version was much better, played every single day multiple times a day. This is a completely different game compared to the older model and could have been a separate game altogether instead of this forced update... Would give this zero stars if I could. Uninstalled it...

Had this app for years. It completely changed to something else overnight. Had to uninstall it.

It's was great. Now, all of a sudden, my side is in slow motion. No matter how fast I try and move the cards, they don't land on the pile. The opponents card goes under mine while my just hover. I've uninstalled and reinstalled it multiple times. Was one of my favorites.

What’s new

Two fixes from your reports:

• The game no longer gets stuck when both Spit piles run out — you'll now get a nudge, and the round settles on cards left
• The leaderboard scrolls properly, wherever your finger lands
