The harbor press is falling silent, and every edition depends on type that you place by hand. Typebound is a two-dimensional mobile puzzle game about composing a readable newspaper under physical limits. Words behave like pieces of movable type with measured widths. You place brass break tabs, spend proof-blue spacing wedges, close each line against a fixed measure, and work around reserved picture areas. Orphans, rivers of space, overflow, and reading order are visible problems rather than hidden score rules. Every judgment comes from the same composition result used by the game. The measure, word blocks, and individual gaps show exactly where a proof succeeds or fails, while snapping type, rolling ink, stamps, motion, and clear sound cues acknowledge each action.
This first playable release contains eight authored levels that grow from simple to demanding without repeating one layout under a new name. Straight Measure teaches a single useful break. Drop Cap reserves space around a large initial. Picture Wrap reshapes the text column. Deadline Edition locks a page across timed proof stages. Locked Quote protects an immovable quotation. Column Relay makes two-column reading order part of the puzzle. Bilingual Galley pairs English and Chinese rows. First Edition combines a headline, body copy, caption, and colophon inside a four-stage dynamic grid. A three-step opening tutorial introduces the break tab, spacing wedge, and Print command before later rules appear. Reduced Motion replaces travel animation with static snapping while keeping the closed measure, diagnostic patterns, and ink-stamp result readable.
Each run is structured around four different pages. Clean proofs award Spacing Slugs for decisions inside the run and Press Seals for progress across runs. Proof Choice presents three printing clauses that change the next page without solving it for you. A first clear files an Issue Proof. The current Issue Archive tracks collection progress for the first-release prototypes and offers a route back to the introductory layout. Collecting 48 distinct Issue Proofs is the stated long-term expansion goal, not a claim that forty-eight levels are already shipped. Progress, language, and accessibility settings are stored locally. There is no generic coin wallet, forced energy timer, or paid level skip.
Advertising remains optional. Rewarded ads can restore the latest impressed stage, redraw the three Proof Choice clauses, or accelerate a reward. They never arrange the page automatically and never reveal the correct break positions. An interstitial may appear only when returning to the Pressroom from the Edition Board or Issue Archive, with a shared cooldown and a visible waiting state. On desktop builds without an ad bridge, the flow falls back safely. All pictured play comes from the real Godot mobile target presentation. Typebound does not promise automatic typesetting, live news, online multiplayer, free zoom, or desktop-publishing software features.
