Private speech-to-text for Android.

TypeWhisper turns your voice into text with on-device AI models or optional cloud providers. Dictate in the app, use the TypeWhisper keyboard in any other app, or transcribe existing audio and video files.

DICTATE YOUR WAY
• Transcribe on your phone with Parakeet (25 European languages) or Whisper (99 languages), offline once the model is downloaded
• Or use cloud engines such as Groq, OpenAI, ElevenLabs, Deepgram or AssemblyAI with your own API key
• A personal dictionary for names and specialist terms, plus snippets for text you use often
• Removes filler words, understands spoken punctuation and writes numbers as digits

VOICE KEYBOARD
• Dictate into any text field, with QWERTZ and QWERTY layouts
• Pick a profile per app or per field
• Rewrite selected text in any app from the text selection menu

DICTATION BUBBLE (OPTIONAL, USES THE ACCESSIBILITYSERVICE API)
• Keep your usual keyboard and dictate into other apps with a floating bubble
• Off by default. Only after you agree in the app, TypeWhisper uses Android's AccessibilityService API to detect the text field you are typing in, show the bubble next to it and insert your dictation at the cursor
• It accesses the name of the app you are using and the focused text field (text, cursor position, field type). This data stays on your phone and is not stored or shared; password fields are skipped
• TypeWhisper is not an accessibility tool. You can turn the bubble off at any time

WRITING PROFILES
• Clean up a dictation, write a chat message, a note, a checklist or a summary
• Translate into 20 languages
• Write your own instructions for anything else
• Profiles use the language model service you choose, with your own key or your own server

QUICK CAPTURE
• Start dictating from a quick settings tile, a home screen widget, an app shortcut or the assist gesture
• Quick dictations are copied and wait in the Inbox until you open them

HISTORY AND FILES
• Search, edit and export your transcriptions as text, Markdown or JSON
• Subtitles as SRT or VTT
• Recover a recording when a transcription failed

• Turn dictations into complete emails with a subject
• Turn a dictation into a calendar draft and add it to your calendar
• Live transcription while you speak (Nemotron, on device)

PRIVACY FIRST
• On-device engines keep your voice on your phone
• No ads, no tracking, no analytics
• Cloud providers are optional and only used when you choose them
• API keys are stored encrypted with the Android Keystore

Dictation, the keyboard, the dictionary, snippets and on-device engines work without an account or subscription. Cloud engines and writing profiles need your own provider account. On-device models are downloaded once from within the app.

What’s new

New on-device engines: Canary 180M Flash, SenseVoice Small, Moonshine Tiny and GigaAM v3 for Russian. Whisper translates into English, silence is skipped and dictionary terms work with every engine.
