What is IPA?

The International Phonetic Alphabet (IPA) is an alphabetic system of phonetic notation.

The IPA spelling system (phonetic transcription) is more reliable than the English spelling system because the spelling of an English word does not tell you how you should pronounce It.

Linguists designed IPA to be unambiguous: every symbol has only one pronunciation. When you read a word in IPA, you'll know exactly  how to pronounce it.

Why should I learn IPA ?

The IPA is used by lexicographers, foreign language students and teachers, linguists, speech-language pathologists, singers, actors, constructed language creators and translators.

This application is incredible, it helps me a lot with the pronunciation of words and with the help of the international phonetic alphabet I can identify the sounds more easily and not only can I translate words I can also translate phrases, I love it and I use it a lot for my English learning

Does what it's supposed to. Very solid core function. Offers US, English, Australian, India accents and corresponding IPA. However, three issues: 1. It's easy to accidentally delete text due to usually invisible "x" button 2. Long text (~ 4 lines) visually glitch where the text is doubled, and overlays both sections, making it very hard to read. 3. There's no support for pasting IPA and having it read phonetically. Edit: adding a star due to exellent dev responsiveness. Thanks, and cheers!

This is an excellent app probably the best I have ever tried, this is what I have been waiting for a long time. 👍 Do you think you can add the function where I am reading a text on a web page and I would like to be able to highlight a word and have the option to transcribe it directly to phonetics with this app. THAN YOU.
