Unit Bench converts measurements with the exact factors that define the units, and can show one value in every unit of its category at the same time.
Pick a category, choose the unit you have and the unit you want, and type the value on the built-in keypad. The result updates with every key. A line under the result shows the relation used, such as 1 ft = 0.3048 m, or °F = °C × 1.8 + 32 for temperatures. The swap key turns the pair around, and the EXP key enters powers of ten, so 6.02 EXP 23 is 6.02 × 10²³.
All units opens the bench: one row per unit, each with its value and a bar drawn on a log scale. Every tick on the bar is a factor of ten, so you can see at a glance which units give large numbers and which give small ones. Tap a row to convert into that unit, or hold it to start from it with the same amount.
The factors are exact definitions as published in NIST Special Publication 811 and the SI Brochure: the inch is 0.0254 m, the pound 0.45359237 kg, the US gallon 3.785411784 L, the kilocalorie 4184 J. Temperatures are converted with their offsets, fuel economy is treated as the inverse relation it is (liters per 100 km against miles per gallon, US and UK), and data sizes keep decimal kB and binary KiB apart.
Results are rounded to between 3 and 12 significant digits, as you choose. Very large and very small values switch to scientific notation, and thousands separators can be turned on or off. Pin the unit pairs you use often to keep them one tap away, and find your last 20 conversions in the recent list.
Features:
- 14 categories and 130 units: length, area, volume, mass, temperature, speed, pressure, energy, power, data, time, angle, fuel economy and cooking
- In-app keypad with decimal point, sign, delete, clear and powers of ten
- All units view with a log-scale magnitude bar for every unit
- Exact factors from published definitions, with the relation shown under each result
- Temperature offsets, inverse fuel economy and binary data units handled correctly
- 3 to 12 significant digits, scientific notation, optional thousands separators
- Up to 24 pinned unit pairs and the last 20 conversions
- Clear notes for impossible input, such as a temperature below absolute zero
Unit Bench works entirely on your phone. There is no account, no ads and no network access, and nothing you type, pin or convert leaves the device.
