You get a free one-month preview of the Universalis pages, which contain the Readings at Mass (NAB translation for the USA, the new ESV for Great Britain, Jerusalem Bible in the rest of the world), the Mass Today (which combines the daily Mass readings with the Order of Mass) and the Liturgy of the Hours: Morning Prayer, the three daytime hours, Evening Prayer, Night Prayer, and the Office of Readings (scripture readings – United States: RSV. Elsewhere: Jerusalem Bible, with RSV as an optional add-on).

If you like what you see in the one-month preview, you can take out a monthly subscription to it or you can buy the Universalis app instead.

You can purchase or subscribe to audio for all the Hours (spoken in English), the Gospel of the day (Jerusalem Bible, spoken in English), or the daytime Hours (Terce, Sext, None) spoken in Latin.

This app is complete in itself. It needs no Internet connection and no downloads.

Ratings and reviews

Good content, but it needs some technical clean-up. I have often found either the upper half of lower half of a line when obviously a piece has been cut at the end of a page to continue to the next page. It was not done cleanly, nor was it checked to see that the thought is readable. It is frustrating. If this clean-up is done, I would gladly change my review to five stars.

I was introduced to Universalis many years ago through one of our priests who is vision impaired and he finds Universalis on his iPad much easier. For many years I had used a daily prayer book from the Divine Office, which was good, but not complete. Moving over to Universalis (Android phone and tablet) means access to much more such as Lectio Divina and Office of Readings. Thankyou for the convenience of Universalis!

I love this app. It's exactly what I needed. It's saved my back!!! No more lugging about those breviary books. Everything is here, and it's all up to date. With only 2 payments, the app is mine for as long as I want. Thank you very much 🌹 for this app. God bless you must abundantly.

What’s new

You can now have coloured backgrounds (instead of white) in day mode and coloured text (instead of white) in night mode. Tap the rightmost button in the toolbar to open the Fonts screen, and you will see a colour-selection slider on top of the sample text.
