About this app

Upfora is for the hour you've actually got free.

Pick lunch or coffee, and Upfora finds you one person nearby who wants the same thing at the same time. Not a list to scroll through. One person, one meeting spot, and a walk that takes a few minutes.

How it works

1. Choose lunch or coffee. Before you sign up, you can see how many people nearby are up for the same thing.
2. Set yourself available. Your search ends on its own after half an hour, and you can add another 30 minutes if nobody's free yet.
3. Upfora finds one person. You see their first name and what the two of you have in common. Nothing else. Allow notifications and you'll hear the moment it happens, so you can look away while you wait.
4. Pick a meeting spot from a few nearby suggestions and send the invitation.
5. Meet. Whoever arrives first can say where they're waiting, and the other sees it on screen. Then close the app. That's the whole point.

What Upfora doesn't do

There's no profile to browse, no swiping, no chat and no feed. You can't scroll Upfora, because there's nothing to scroll. The app exists to get you out of it and into a café.

Upfora is platonic. It's for the hour between meetings, or the coffee you'd have had with a friend if a friend were free. It isn't a dating app and it doesn't try to be one.

Your location stays yours

Your coordinates are never shown to anyone. The person you're meeting sees a walking time to the meeting spot, and nothing more. Coordinates from an availability window are discarded when the window ends, and during a meeting only your latest position is held, to tell whether you've both arrived.

Your number stays yours

Your phone number signs you in. It's never shown to anyone unless, after you've met, you both choose to share it. Either of you can say no, and nothing happens.

Staying safe

Upfora is open from 13 in Estonia and Finland and from 18 elsewhere, and people under 18 are only ever matched with other people under 18. You can report and block from any meeting — it removes you both from each other's matching and cancels anything pending, and the other person isn't told. You can delete your account from inside the app whenever you want.

What’s new

Sign-up now asks your gender and who you would like to meet on a screen of their own, then your first name and birthdate.
The birthdate screen says why we ask for it. No other user sees it.
Before you confirm, Check your details shows your gender, name and birthdate, because you can't change them later.
