About this app

St.Lucian Creole Dictionary is an easy to use mobile app that will give visitors to St. Lucia and those who are interested in learning Kwéyòl a quick and handy reference to the language.

Look up words starting from either language, right from the same screen. Search by Kwéyòl keyword to see the English definition, or tap the reverse-search icon — it turns red when active — to search starting from an English word or phrase instead.

Each entry shows the different senses of a word, example sentences illustrating it in context, part of speech, synonyms, antonyms, cross-references, and etymology where known.

Reverse search doesn't just match the English keyword list anymore — it searches the full content of every entry, including definitions, translations, and example sentences. So even if you only remember a phrase from an example sentence, you can still find the Kwéyòl word it came from.

Both search directions include audio pronunciations of the Kwéyòl words, making the app great for anyone learning to speak the language.

Key Features
• Audio pronunciations by a native speaker
• Search by Kwéyòl or English keyword, from one screen
• Reverse search now searches full definitions, translations, and usage examples — not just keywords
• Search without typing accents (optional setting)
• Save frequently used words to Favorites, in your own order
• Example sentences and phrases for real usage context

"What's New" release note (this is the part that matters most for returning users like you who remember the old behavior):

Reverse search has a new look and is more powerful:
• Tap the reverse icon and it turns red — the word list no longer flips to English, you just type your English search in the same screen.
• It now searches the full content of the dictionary (definitions, translations, example sentences), not just the English keyword list, so you can find a word from a phrase you remember in an example sentence.
English to Creole and Creole to English translator with audio pronunciations.

I do appreciate this app, however, it will be nice for the alphabet with the pronunciations to be taught also how to pronounce numbers like numbering (digits), counting.

The up needs to be updated and suitable or compatible with any phones. I was able to download it because my phone is a bit old *(S10 old). I tried sharing it with my sisters and the couldn't download it. I'm a St. lucian and it would be nice to be able to share this app because many citizens can't speak or write the language.

I love this app! My father is from Dominica, but I was born in the U.S. he speaks Kweyol fluently, with his family back home, but didn't teach me really. :/ This is as close as it gets to me learning without having to ask. I love this app because you have the pronunciations included. Can you also make some common phrases/ slang sentences one day? Thanks a milly! 🖤❤💚
