About this app

🐍 Venomous Animals – San Juan

The Venomous Animals – San Juan app was created as part of the outreach project
“Venomous Animals and Public Health: Outreach, Education, and Citizen Science in San Juan,” developed by the National University of San Juan, as a continuation of the CONEX Project (2022 Call for Proposals).

Accidents caused by venomous animals represent a significant public health problem. The lack of information, proper species identification, and preventive measures can lead to serious consequences, especially for children, rural workers, and people exposed to natural or peri-urban environments.

This app aims to provide reliable, accessible, and up-to-date information on venomous animals present in the province of San Juan, promoting prevention, education, and citizen participation.

📚 What does the app offer?

🔍 Species Identification
Clear information for recognizing venomous and non-venomous animals of medical and public health importance.

🚑 Prevention and First Aid
General recommendations for preventing accidents and knowing how to act in case of poisoning.

🗺️ Geographic Records and Sightings
Users can record encounters with animals, contributing to a citizen science system that helps update the distribution of species in the province.

🏥 Support for Public Health
The data collected allows for the identification of risk zones and their relationship to health centers, strengthening planning and health response.

🎓 Educational Tool
Designed for nursing students, healthcare workers, teachers, and the general public interested in environmental education.

🤝 Citizen Science and Social Commitment

The app promotes active community participation, integrating scientific knowledge and local wisdom to improve public perception of venomous animals, encourage accident prevention, and strengthen environmental education in San Juan.
