Ventic is an open-source media library and BitTorrent player for Android TV, phones and tablets. It keeps track of what you are watching, and plays what you point it at.
VENTIC SHIPS WITH NO SOURCES
Ventic hosts no content and indexes no content. There is no built-in catalogue, no search index, no bundled list of servers and no suggestions of anywhere to look — the app will not point you at content, by design. A source is a plain HTTP endpoint that you add yourself under Settings > Sources. With none configured, Ventic is a general-purpose torrent client with a very good player attached. You are responsible for what you add and what you watch, and for doing so legally where you live.
YOUR LIBRARY
• Resume where you stopped, on every title
• Watched, favourites and a watchlist
• Artwork, cast and details from TMDB, in 72 languages
• Stored on your device — no account, no sign-in, no server
• Backup and restore to a file, to move it to another machine
THE PLAYER
• Starts playing while the download is still running
• Hardware-accelerated video, with an FFmpeg audio path for tracks a device decoder refuses — the E-AC-3 track that ends other players a second in
• Subtitle and audio track picking, with delay and size controls
• Volume levelling and a dialogue boost, per film or as a default
• Remembers the position, the tracks and the settings you chose
DOWNLOADS
• A BitTorrent engine inside the app — add a magnet link and it plays
• Keeps downloading while the app is in the background
• Pause, resume and delete, with a Wi-Fi-only setting for metered connections
LIVE TV
Paste your own M3U playlist and its channels appear as a list. Nothing is bundled, and no playlist is included or linked — this is for a playlist you already have.
BUILT FOR A REMOTE
Every screen is driven with up, down, left, right, OK and back. No typing, no pointing, no touch required — the same app runs on a phone, a tablet and a television.
MADE YOURS
28 themes, or generate one from a colour you pick. Backgrounds, blur and a reduced-effects mode for slower televisions.
PRIVATE BY DEFAULT
No account. No sign-in. No ads. No analytics, no tracking and no telemetry. Your library never leaves the device unless you export it yourself. The app talks to TMDB for artwork, to the sources you added, and to nothing else.
OPEN SOURCE
Ventic is free and open source, under the MIT licence. The whole app — the player, the engine glue and the Android side — is on GitHub, and it is built for desktop as well: Linux, Windows and macOS.
