AR Headtracker turns your Android phone into a full 6DOF inside-out head tracker for OpenTrack on your PC. No external camera, no clip-on markers, no extra hardware.
Using your phone's camera and motion sensors, the app tracks how your head moves in space, both position AND rotation, and streams it live to OpenTrack over your local Wi-Fi network. Ideal for flight simulators, space sims, and racing games that support head tracking through OpenTrack.
WHAT YOU GET
- Full 6 degrees of freedom: look around AND lean in, out, up, down, and side to side.
- Inside-out tracking: the phone tracks itself, so there's no webcam pointed at your face and no IR markers on your headset.
- Low-latency UDP streaming straight into OpenTrack.
- A clean cockpit-style control panel: enter your PC's address, tap ARM, and you're tracking.
- Editable target host and port, remembered between sessions.
HOW IT WORKS
1. Install OpenTrack on your PC and set its input to "UDP over network."
2. Enter your PC's IP address and port in the app.
3. Mount your phone to your headset or cap, tap ARM, and move your head.
REQUIREMENTS
- An ARCore-capable Android phone.
- A PC on the same Wi-Fi network running OpenTrack.
- A game that reads head tracking via OpenTrack (freetrack / TrackIR compatible).
PRIVACY
The camera image never leaves your phone. It is processed on-device only, to work out your head position. The only thing sent over the network is a small stream of position and rotation numbers, to the PC address you choose. Full policy: https://apps.vgarciaf.com/ar-headtracker/privacy.html
