This app helps children learn the alphabet, numbers, reading and writing.
When you click a keyboard button, the app reads the character aloud and adds it to the text shown at the top. You can then listen to what has been written. This helps learning the alphabet and numbers, but also what sounds letters contribute to words. The simple design helps children keep their concentration.
With TinyTypist, children younger than two years could already learn the names of numbers and letters. Later, they enjoyed typing in their name and hearing the app read it aloud. Older children quickly learned their favorite words by heart and could improvise the spelling of other words.
Choose which buttons (or combinations thereof) are visible on the keyboard:
• Letters
• Multigraphs like SH, CH, OW
• Punctuation
• Numbers
• Arithmetic operators
• Caps Lock, Space bar
Additional settings:
• Let the app say letter phonemes instead of their names. E.g., the letter M no longer sounds like "emm", but is reduced to "m". This emphasizes the sound letters contribute to words.
• Choose between 4 different color schemes for the user interface, e.g., dark mode.
• Choose between 3 different keyboard fonts, from clean print to handwritten.
• Slow down the reading voice.
• Prevent unintended multiple clicks of the same button.
• Languages: English, German, Vietnamese
• etc.
Planned features:
• More keyboard languages
• Voice selection
