Great Expectations has a long way to go in order to meet my great expectations. Though I've only read up to chapter 3 so far, it's quite difficult for me to keep the focus in-between the chapters, paragraphs, and sentences. The extremely voluminous and therefore intimidating nature of the novel makes it very difficult, if not impossible, for me to read carefully. Dickens should have known that in the 21st century, time would be very precious, everything fighting for one's attention. Otherwise, I still respect him as a great writer.
