Run a super-intelligent WiFi home scan

It’s our new-and-improved two-step speed test powered by SamKnows. First, it guides you around your home, room by room, to check WiFi performance in each one. Then, it tests your broadband speed to make sure there are no network issues. Just connect to the Hub, tap ‘Start the scan’ then let the app take you through the rest. If the scan finds any areas without Superstrong WiFi, we’ll suggest ways to improve it – with our WiFi Pods*, for example. Sorted!

Distinctly average is the best I can describe it. A recent update allowed me to see the hub and WiFi pods separately so I know what is connected to what, this was a positive step. But the app. is so unreliable I don't know if I can trust it. For the past week or so it hasn't even recognized the pods and is now telling me nothing is connected to my network at all when clearly everything is...a message pops up saying 'something's gone wrong our side' (or similar). For me it's not fit for purpose.

It used to be mostly stable and usable, now it is mostly useless. As I write this, I am sat next to the hub, which the app cannot see. The hub is working fine, my phone is connected to it, my gaming PC, a smart tv and three Alexas too and all working perfectly. I could reinstall the app, restart my phone, restart the hub, wait for it to finally come back online and then try again, but who has the time and next time I want to use it, it will still just tell me it can't see the hub...

Hi Chris, we’re sorry to hear you’re having an issue with your hub connecting in the app. We currently have a known error with some of the data in our systems, that is causing the app to not recognise the Hub in a minority of instances. A reboot usually resolves this. We are investigating this as a high priority. Apologies for any inconvenience.

Although better than the old app, this version is far from perfect. It tells me that my and my wife's mobiles are not connected to wifi, when quite clearly they are. The same goes for our tablets and one TV360 box. The wifi scan results are puzzling too. The Speedtest app shows a speed of 30-50 mbps in our living room but this app says 7 or 8, that is when I can get the app to show my phone as connected! How can the results be so different? This app needs a lot more work to make it reliable.
