About this app

VocalBite KDS is the kitchen display system built for fast-moving restaurant kitchens.
Designed to replace paper KOTs and reduce miscommunication between the front-of-house
and kitchen, it gives your team a clear, real-time view of every order — so nothing
gets missed and food goes out faster.

── HOW IT WORKS ──

Orders placed by your floor staff appear instantly on the kitchen screen. Each ticket
shows the table number, order type, server name, and every item with quantity, variant,
and special instructions. The kitchen team works through three simple stages:

• PENDING — new orders waiting to be started
• PREPARING — orders being actively cooked
• READY — food ready for pickup or service
• BUMP — completed and removed from the board

Tap "Start Cooking" to claim a ticket, "Mark Ready" when it's done, and "Bump" to
clear it from the board.

🔴 Live Order Feed
Tickets appear the moment an order is placed — no refresh needed. A real-time
WebSocket connection keeps everything in sync, backed by automatic 20-second
polling so you're covered even on unstable networks.

⏱ Elapsed Time Timers
Every ticket shows exactly how long it's been waiting. Timers turn amber after
10 minutes and red after 20, so your team can prioritise at a glance.

🚨 Urgent Order Alerts
Tickets older than 15 minutes pulse automatically and display an URGENT badge,
ensuring overdue orders never get buried.

🔔 Audio & Vibration Alerts
An audio chime and vibration notify the kitchen the moment a new order arrives
or an order is cancelled. Toggle alerts on or off at any time from settings.

🍽 Per-Item Progress Tracking
Mark individual items as cooked within a ticket. A progress bar shows how many
items are done — ideal for complex multi-item orders with multiple cooks.

🏪 Station Filtering
Running a large kitchen with separate grill, fry, and cold stations? Filter the
board to show only the items relevant to your station.

🟢 Dine-in · Takeaway · Delivery Badges
Order type is visible at a glance on every ticket, so the team knows exactly
how each order will leave the kitchen.

🥗 Veg / Non-Veg Indicators
Color-coded veg and non-veg dot indicators (Indian standard) on every item —
no ambiguity, no mistakes.

📝 Special Instructions Highlighted
Customer notes and modifications appear in red directly on the item, so
customisations are never overlooked.

📡 Offline Mode
Lost Wi-Fi? VocalBite KDS keeps showing cached orders and queues any status
updates you make. Everything syncs automatically the moment the connection
is restored.

VocalBite KDS is part of the VocalBite restaurant management platform, working
seamlessly alongside the Captain app (for floor staff) and the Owner app (for
analytics and reports). It is intended for use by restaurant operators with an
active VocalBite account.
