About this app

Vocaléo is an application designed to improve the autonomy of the visually impaired. It is optimized for navigation with voice readers.

The application is available from Android 7.0.

What is Vocaléo?
The application allows you to simply associate voice memos with objects or elements using Vocaléo tags that you paste wherever you want. To listen to a voice memo, all you need to do is hold the phone up to a beacon and it goes off automatically. Configure as many beacons as you need voice memos.

How it works ?
Each self-adhesive tag is an NFC tag contains an electronic circuit. Thanks to the detector on your smartphone, the beacon is read automatically. You can then listen in complete autonomy to the recordings associated with your everyday objects.

How to use a Vocaléo tag?
The Vocaléo application allows you to configure your beacons in just three steps. You must record your voice memo, name it and then associate it with a Vocaléo beacon by approaching your phone.
Tags are reusable. You can replace the voice content of one tag with another at any time. Just redo the setup step with your new voice memo. It will automatically delete the old one.
Use flat, non-metallic surfaces to position your Vocaléo beacons. If you are missing any beacons, you can order them on the app or on the website. Only Vocaléo tags work with the application.
If you haven't received the tags yet, you can save and name your voice memos and associate them with the tags later.

Examples of use
Vocaléo adapts to your needs and your handicap by being fully customizable. However, here are a few examples of uses: listening to the expiration dates of their food, their medical prescription, information about their clothes, the names of their spices, their wifi password or even the programs of their washing machine.

Through our meetings with the visually impaired and blind, we understood that disability is in fact a school of life which requires very demanding learning. The visually impaired by necessity have better capacities of memory and perception of the elements which surround them. Despite these coping skills, tools to compensate for visual loss are essential for them. These tools, Vocaléo is one of them and allows them to gain autonomy.
