This is a Bible study app focused on original text interpretation. Receive daily morning and evening notifications for commentary meditations focused on biblical theology, and meditate together. It supports vocabulary breakdowns of Hebrew and Greek Scriptures. You can also search a concordance (index of usage) linking each word to its original language. It particularly reflects the importance of the Septuagint from a biblical theological perspective. Designed with the motto "Developing the Power of Intuition," the Power Bible app is a web-based app that offers quick and easy searches and links to 340,000 cross-references and footnotes for each verse. Currently, it is demonstrating an aesthetic search driven by a hermeneutic algorithm and has also been equipped with a Text-to-Speech (TTS) feature to "read" the Bible text. A Bible transcription feature has also been added (February 27, 2022).
An overview of each feature is as follows:
1. Meditation Alarm Function and Annual Reading Schedule
Those who install Power Bible will receive notifications twice a day (morning and evening) by default. This feature, introduced in mid-2021, is a program designed to help users read the entire Bible once a year, in collaboration with a biblical theologian developer. The program outlines commentary meditations, structured with in-depth biblical theology, based on the "reading section" for each day, encouraging users to read along. (Alarm sounds can be muted in the settings.)
2. Cross-reference Bible:
Power Bible offers over 340,000 cross-reference Bible verses. This is more than four times the 80,000-90,000 references found in domestically published Bibles. This in itself is a significant aid to meditation and will enrich your inspiration.
3. Original Word Parsing and Concordance:
This feature provides basic Hebrew and Greek parsing, as well as access to biblical usage examples and an index of the corresponding vocabulary.
4. Text-to-Speech (TTS) Feature
As of July 2021, we've added a feature called Text-to-Speech. This technology reads the text, rather than providing audio recorded by a voice actor. It supports both Korean and English Bibles. Thanks to the advancement of the TTS engine, this feature delivers a sound that's almost like a real voice actor's voice. We expect you to find it very useful. You can use it via the Catheter Pad or Looming Pad, or by directly accessing the TTS pad. (Note: You can use the Google TTS or Samsung TTS engine on your device, but the Samsung engine is much more powerful these days.)
5. Notes
We search and extract English note-taking online. We've prioritized Calvin's commentary, along with commentaries by John Gill and Albert Barnes (accessible through the Catheter Pad). The app's developer has also written and continues to update hermeneutical commentaries. We're currently working on Genesis (this commentary is accessible on all pads except LoomingPad).
6. Aesthetic Search
You may be hearing this term for the first time. It's a feature that extracts related verses by performing an inferential search on a search term. This search algorithm doesn't aim for a precise value, but rather aims to extract and display the directionality of the word. This is a highly experimental search technology that requires continuous refinement over time.
7. LoomingPad
The newly developed LoomingPad was officially launched on December 31, 2021. It's designed with readability in mind. Previous pads were designed primarily for search, so the screen layout may not be suitable for reading depending on user preferences. You can set the main version of the LoomingPad Bible in the Preferences window to read it side-by-side. LoomingPad provides access to the TTS (Tell-To-Say Bible), Interlinear (Original Text Analysis), Catheter (Commentary) and Cross-Reference pads.
8. Utilizing the Septuagint (LXX) Bible
The Septuagint is not only a translation of great value in the formation of the New Testament, but also a translation text of profound value in the formation of the Judeo-Christian liturgy community. Therefore, examining key vocabulary used in this translation in conjunction with the New Testament is a crucial learning tool. This feature is implemented in the PowerBible interface (available starting with the April 2, 2022 update).
11. Bookmarking Function
You can bookmark individual Bible verses. While reading and browsing the Bible in each pad, if you come across a verse you want to remember, click the flag icon to mark it. Marked verses are stored in the "Save List" pad in the app's left drawer menu. When you open this pad, clicking on a singular verse will take you to the bookmarked pad. If you want to compare multiple verses in the original text, hold down on each verse to select them, then click the "Compare Original Text" button in the upper left corner. This will import only those verses into the Interlinear pad. Use it wisely for convenience.
12. Bible Transcription Function
This pad supports Bible transcription. Transcription helps you remember the Bible more clearly. It's also fun. If your device is not convenient for typing, you can use an external keyboard.
☆☆☆ If you decide to use Power Bible, it's helpful to know the following search algorithm: ☆☆☆
Power Bible searches are implemented in two ways: [Section Setting Method] and [Quick Search].
■ A. [Section Setting Method] Search handles the following six cases using the algorithm:
·Search by Book
·Search by Book + Chapter
·Search by Book + Chapter/Verse
·Search by Book -> Book Section
·Search by Book + Chapter ~> Book + Chapter Section
·Search by Book + Chapter + Section ~> Book + Chapter + Section
1) Search by Book:
From the "Book 1 List" on the left of the search handle, select the desired book name from the drop-down menu to immediately retrieve results for that section. (For example, selecting "Genesis" will select only "Genesis," or "Leviticus" will select only "Leviticus.")
Regardless of the search section, selecting "Book 1" will refresh the results for "Book 1."
2) Search by Book:
From the "Book 2 List" on the right of the search handle, select the desired book name. This will select the section based on the previously selected "Book 1" to "Book 2." (Example: If "Exodus" is selected in Book 1 on the left and "Matthew" is selected in Book 2 on the right, results will be selected from "Exodus 1:1" to "Matthew, Chapter 1, Last Verse.")
3) Book + Chapter + Verse → Book + Chapter + Verse Search:
Search from the desired Book-Chapter-Verse to the desired Book-Chapter-Verse.
4) Book + Chapter + Verse ← Book + Chapter + Verse Search:
This function can be used even if "Book 2" is located before the selected "Book 1."
5) Keyword Search:
Search for keywords within the range set in 1) to 4) above.
6) Query Count:
After searching for keywords, the "Query Word Count" button will be called. This function will search for the number of keywords within the selected range.
■ B. The following is the [Quick Search] method:
If the basic search handling described above is cumbersome and simple chapter-verse input is more convenient, this search window is convenient. Searches are conducted according to the following abbreviation rules:
① Single verse search → Genesis 15:1
② Single chapter search → Genesis 15
③ Section search → Genesis 15:1-16
④ Section search → Genesis 15:1-Exodus 1:2
⑤ Keywords within a single chapter → Genesis 15-Abram
⑥ Keywords within the entire Bible → Love, Faith (keywords separated by commas)
⑦ Grouping different singular verses → Genesis 15:1; Exodus 1:2, Leviticus 2:3
You can search by directly entering the above abbreviations into the search field.
We are continually adding search algorithms.
All of the above features operate within a file size of less than 10MB. Because PowerBible's search resources are extensive, we do not provide data to the app itself. Since it is implemented online, the app file itself, which users install on their devices, is less than 10MB.
◎ Although this app has somewhat specialized features, I hope it will be useful to anyone who wants to draw closer to God's Word and grasp the true meaning of its interpretation. Thank you. ─Developer Lee Young-jin.
