Every other alarm ends the same way: your thumb finds the button before your brain wakes up. WakeRule takes the button away.
Set an alarm, attach a task, and the alarm will not stop until your phone's camera sees you actually do it.
TYPE ANYTHING
Other alarms hand you a fixed list of missions. WakeRule hands you a keyboard.
Write the task in your own words — "pour a glass of water and drink all of it", "carry the trash bag out of the front door", "water the plant on the balcony" — and the app turns your sentence into a short list of things the camera has to see, in order. Glass in hand, then drinking, then the glass held up empty.
You see that list before you save. If it read your sentence wrong, rewrite it. Once you save, it is locked. No renegotiating at 6:30 in the morning.
Prefer to just tap something? Six ready-made tasks are built in:
- Out of bed
- 10 jumping jacks
- 15 squats
- 10 push-ups
- Touch your toes
- Stand on one leg for 30 seconds
HOW THE MORNING GOES
1. It rings, taking over the whole screen even when the phone is locked. One button: START.
2. The sound pauses and the camera opens. You do the task while it watches, ticking off each step as it sees it.
3. It sees everything on the list, and the alarm is finished for the day.
Run out of time and it simply starts ringing again. There is no snooze button, no dismiss button, and no give-up button anywhere on the screen. You reposition the phone and go again.
THE RECORD
Every verified morning builds a streak. The stats tab shows your wake rate, your average wake-up time, a month-at-a-glance grid of the mornings you made and the ones you missed, and your fastest task yet.
WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW BEFORE YOU INSTALL
This is a subscription app, monthly or annual, and there is no free trial. An active subscription is required to create a task-backed alarm.
If your subscription lapses, your alarms keep working — they simply ring as ordinary alarms you can dismiss by hand. A billing problem should never be the reason you sleep through something.
The alarm uses your phone's own alarm sound.
PRIVACY
The camera checks whether the task in front of it is being done. That is all it does. It is not face recognition, it does not identify you, and it does not check that you are a real person rather than a photo.
Camera frames are analysed and then discarded. They are never stored and never shown to anyone.
PERMISSIONS, AND WHY
- Camera — to see the task being done. Nothing works without it.
- Alarms and reminders — so the alarm fires at the exact minute, not whenever the system gets round to it.
- Notifications — for the warning the night before a subscription lapses.
- Display over other apps and full-screen intent — so the alarm can take over a locked screen instead of arriving as a notification you swipe away.
The alarm with no snooze. It stops when your camera sees you do the task.
