XCoord is a privacy-first live location sharing app for small groups —
families, hiking trips, friends meeting up at a festival, parents tracking
each other on a school run.
WHY XCOORD IS DIFFERENT
• End-to-end encrypted. The server only ever sees encrypted location
blobs. Decryption keys are derived from your invite code, which never
leaves your device once the group is created.
• No accounts. No phone number, email, or social login. Just a display
name you can change anytime.
• Self-dissolving groups. Pick 1–15 days when you create a group; it
auto-deletes when the timer ends.
• One group at a time. Keeps things simple — no notification storms.
HOW IT WORKS
1. Create a group → share the QR code or 10-character invite.
2. Friends scan or paste; everyone shows up on the map.
3. Move around — your dot follows you, theirs follows them.
4. Group expires (or you leave) → server forgets you exist.
PRIVACY HIGHLIGHTS
• AES-256-GCM encryption (industry standard, used by Signal, WhatsApp).
• Invite codes are hashed before reaching the server — even if our
database is stolen, attackers can't decrypt anyone's location.
• Open privacy policy. We don't sell data. The only third-party SDK
is Google AdMob (banner + occasional rewarded ads).
GREAT FOR
• Family meetups in unfamiliar cities
• Hikes, festivals, conferences
• Parents tracking school pickups
• Friends finding each other at a venue
PERMISSIONS
• Location (always) — to share your dot with the group, even when the
app is backgrounded.
• Notifications — for the foreground service indicator.
• Camera (optional) — to scan invite QR codes.
