About this app

The Diemtig Valley app uses geofencing to access the content of the Diemtig Valley home routes and contains the content of the GrimmiJutz hiking trail, the first interactive Grimmimutz fairy tale. The app also offers a digital presentation of the existing Albert Schweitzer path and illuminates his rich life as a doctor, philosopher, theologian and organist from his youth to Lambarene.

The app uses new technologies for location determination, time and signal-controlled triggering of content. In addition to VR (virtual reality), animated graphics, audio and video contributions and interactive game elements make the rich facets of Albert Schweitzer's life and the interactive GrimmiMutz fairy tale a gripping experience for young and old, for individual visitors and school classes.

To use the app at Albert-Schweitzer-Weg:

The whole way takes about 1.5 hours.

To make full use of the offer, make sure that you have activated Bluetooth reception, receiving notifications and location request under Settings. This is the only way the local offers work.
A quiz card opens at each of the nine Albert Schweitzer Weg locations. This often contains more than 20MB of content, which can lead to short download times. Each solved quiz card is followed by a feedback card, which gives you more information about the area worked on. This can also be saved as a bookmark. To get an overview of all locations, click on the individual info cards. You can find a map of the locations under «Information on the adventure trail». Please note: The smartphone battery is heavily used during the tour due to the bright screen outdoors and the use of various device functions, which is why it should be well charged before using the trail.

Please note: Please charge your smartphone before starting the tour. The constant GPS function in the background and the necessary screen brightness can massively reduce battery life.

To use the app on the GrimmiJutz-Weg:

The path starts with the chair ride to Stierenberg and takes a good hour to the last post in the app. From there the path leads another forty minutes back to the starting point at the mountain railway.

Using an app, the children learn from post to post and with the help of the Diemtig Valley yodeller Miss Helvetia how to sing a yodel song. The GrimmiJutz. Families with children from the age of five solve puzzles with the help of the "Diemtig Valley" app and learn to yodel from Miss Helvetia, who is well-known throughout Switzerland. The new app offer combines the enchanting mountain landscape with the Grimmimutz fairy tale world in a playful way. Nine posts require skill in guessing, swiping and pressing with your fingers and, of course, singing and yodeling. At the last post, the GrimmiJutz-Stübli, equipped with musical instruments, awaits the yodellers. Here the "GrimmiJutz" is recorded with the smartphone and sent in to take part in the big competition.

Please note: The offer requires a charged battery. The continuously activated GPS function and the necessary screen brightness outdoors can massively reduce the battery life.
