About this app

The Diário de Uberlândia is a newspaper in keeping with its time - new in format and processes, but a traditional part of the city's history. Founded in the 1980s by José Fernandes de Abreu, it began as a daily newspaper Jornal do Comércio. In tabloid format and printed in black and white, the Diário do Comércio was aimed at local and classified advertisers.
In July 2010, intuitively and with an entrepreneurial spirit, Felipe Faria, who at that time had 12 years of experience in print, acquires the Diário do Comércio -
thus fulfilling his great dream.
Following the project of being strong in local and classified advertisers, the first big change was turning the newspaper into color printing, bringing the print to life. Gradually, the editorial contents were being discreetly and continuously inserted.
In 2014, the Diário do Comércio has the first journalist in the company and starts to add more content, becoming more dynamic and interactive.
At the end of 2016, a major new restructuring took place. With the announcement of the closure of the Post Office of Uberlandia, the city would be without its only large daily newspaper. The Diário do Comércio then took this position and prepared to fill the gap that was opening in the market.
Already in early 2017, thinking now as a news newspaper, the Diário do Comércio widens the team of journalists.
Another change was the change of format to Berliner - which allowed a more adequate space offer to customers from Sao Paulo, Belo Horizonte, Brasilia and Rio de Janeiro, who see the potential of the Uberlandian market.
During this same period, subscriptions began to be sold and subscribers began to count daily with the editions of the printed newspaper in their homes.
With a complete newsroom, with reporters, producers and editors, the Diário do Comércio starts to print a quality newspaper, robust, with editorials that bring relevant content from Uberlândia, Minas Gerais, Brazil and the world. The Diário website also gets special attention and now has a dedicated journalist.
In 2018, an important change: closer to the city, the form becomes Diário de Uberlândia. Graphic changes are also adopted and the editorial and commercial teams are reinforced. Today, the newspaper establishes itself as the only daily newsprint focused on Uberlandia and is committed to reporting seriously.
