About this app

What should I wear outside?

WhatToLayer answers one question: what should you wear right now, for what you're about to do? No more staring at "26°, 80% humidity, dew point 22°" and doing the math in your head. WhatToLayer just tells you: "T-shirt. It'll feel muggy."

Pick three things, get a clear answer:
• What you're doing — standing around, walking, running, sports, or riding
• Where you'll be — any place you search and save
• When you're heading out — now, a time of day, or a 3- or 7-day outlook

You get one simple card: what to wear, marked Required, Recommended, or Optional, with a one-line reason ("cool and breezy," "humid and sticky," "rain likely after 6").

Built for real life outside:
• Parents at the bus stop
• Dog walkers and gardeners
• Runners and cyclists
• Motorcycle riders (City/Highway wind-chill)
• Anyone who just wants to dress right and get out the door

Three levels of advice:
• Basic — just the must-wear items
• Standard — the full list
• Layered — base, mid, outer, and extras for people who like to dial it in

Tell it how you run — cold, average, or hot — and it adjusts the layers for you.

Honest about privacy:
• No account, no login
• No location tracking — you pick your places, there's no GPS
• Collects nothing about you
• Free

WhatToLayer isn't a fashion app and it isn't a data-dump weather app. It's a fast, practical comfort-and-safety tool that hides the weather noise and shows you the decision. Dress for the weather.

What’s new

Now with air quality. WhatToLayer warns you when the air is unhealthy, wildfire smoke or pollution. You will know when to limit or skip hard effort outside. It stays quiet when the air is fine. Updated for the latest version of Android, with small settings-screen polish.
