About this app

Deep Rhythm is a set of tools for terminal rhythm nerds.

Developed by a rhythm-obsessed musician for use in his own practice, Deep Rhythm puts hard numbers on what your ears think they heard. Refine your ear's sensitivity to where the pocket really is: everything you tap, play and record is measured in milliseconds, so you can stop guessing and start tightening.

METRONOME
Tap along to a rock-solid click and get instant feedback on every single tap: how early, how late, colour-coded on the screen. Split the beat into up to 16 subdivisions and work on difficult, syncopated rhythms, with every tap scored against the subdivision it belongs to, not just the main beats. Set a mute percentage and clicks start dropping out at random, so you find out quickly whether the time is coming from you or the metronome. Track your session and lifetime averages, watch your consistency (not just your accuracy), pull up a beat-by-beat session report when you stop, and set the tempo by tapping it in.

POLYRHYTHM TRAINER
Two tap zones, one for each hand. Pick any polyrhythm with each side going up to 16, from a gentle 2:3 to whatever 13:16 is supposed to feel like. Each side clicks its own rhythm, you tap along with both hands, and every tap gets the same millisecond feedback as the metronome. Earn stars for every perfect polyrhythm you can tap, and see a full breakdown of both hands in the session report.

RECORDER
Record yourself against the click, then see the truth. Your take is drawn as a waveform with beat markers laid over it, so you can see exactly where each note landed. After recording, overlay beats and subdivisions both audibly and visually: hear the clicks against your playback and see the grid lines on the waveform, and check exactly how you line up. Slow it down without changing pitch, zoom in on the transients, and save takes to compare over time. Built-in calibration measures your phone's real audio latency so the markers sit where the sound actually happened, and saveable profiles handle the extra delay of headphones and Bluetooth.
