What are the limits of a system with renewable resources?
How easy is it to compromise its balance?
In Symbiosis the player controls a funny insect intent on building a large hive in which to house an increasing number of eggs. The game world is a micro-ecosystem populated by flowers and other strange insects that feed on the same pollen that our protagonist collects to build the hive. At each level the eggs hatch, increasing the demand for pollen and putting the survival of renewable resources (flowers) at ever greater risk.
Only if you know how to avoid waste and regulate the flow of exploitation of resources by all the agents of the ecosystem, can you avoid collapse.
But beware: don't underestimate the speed with which vicious circles can destroy the biosphere.
Simbioasi is a game that is part of Unicoop Firenze's educational paths which aim to give girls and boys the tools to make informed choices as citizens and consumers.
