About this game

Word Evolver is a daily word guessing game. Your task is to find a secret word by evolving words in the right direction.

A word can be evolved into another word by exchanging, inserting or removing a single letter.

"WORD" evolves into "WORK" by exchanging "D" with "K".
"WORD" evolves into "WORLD" by inserting the letter "L"
"WORK" evolves into "WOK" by removing the letter "R"

You can get from "WOKE" to "RING" in just 5 steps:

"WOKE" -> "WOK" -> "WON" -> "WIN" -> "WING" -> "RING"

Whenever you enter your guess, Word Evolver will tell you the number of steps it takes to reach the secret word. Small numbers are good, large numbers not so. By careful inspection of these hints you will be able to find the secret word.

If this gets too easy for you, go expert and beat the time limit.

Ratings and reviews

Great game, exactly what it says on the tin. No ads or micro transactions, good level of difficulty. Main feedback: - a heading above each column to show how many steps away it is would be nice QOL, especially early when they aren't all connected. Very minor feedback: - the dictionary has some odd words in it, and misses some unusual words too. Not a big issue, almost never comes up. - I feel a bit clumsier on the inbuilt keyboard than on my normal Android gboard. But I get why, no problem.

The concept is very interesting, but the experience is ruined by the poor vocabulary. Too many words are "not in the dictionary", like CHOICE, DORSAL, COBALT, and it's more frustrating than anything else. A game based on words must have a rich dictionary. It's obvious you focused on the algorithm first, it's disappointing.

This is a nice little fun word finding game!Although my main issue with it is the keyboard is too small. Rather than using the phone's keyboard itself, the game uses a completely custom keyboard instead. I don't see why this was decided, could you maybe try using the phone's keyboard rather than a custom one? Or at least make the custom on resizable. It's too small for people used to larger phone keyboards.
