About this app

LocaToWeb is a reliable GPS tracker for your phone. Use the app to track your adventures while hiking, running, bicycling, kayakking, road-tripping, motorcycle riding etc. It’s a great tool to record your routes, navigate and take photos. Its also great for following others tracking with the app.

A key feature is the possibility to share your location and progress with friends and family, let them see your progress on the map, see photos and interact trough messages. Knowing that your loved ones can follow your position and know where you are is a great safety aspect.

The app gives you duration, distance, speed and altitude as well as your exact position and track lines on a map while tracking. Your position is only tracked when a track has been set up and started and lasts until you stop it.

Tracks are by default private, but you can still share it with friends or publish the web-link that will allow others to see your route and progress on the map.
If you set the track to be public it will be listed on LocaToWeb.com and and in the app for everyone to see. A track can be changed to private/public at any time.

Both private and public tracks can be shared on social media, sent via messenger, email, SMS etc.

Tracks are only identified using a track title and an alias (a name that you choose for every track), which means you can be as anonymous as you like. Registration for an account is recommended but not required, you can install and track without any signup. Your email address (if registered) is never visible to anyone.

The app comes with several map types, including satellite and topographic which makes it great for navigation. Waypoints can be added and displayed on the map (GPX) if you want to pre-load a route. It’s also possible to load other tracks into your own map while tracking.

Photos taken in the app will show on the map and can be viewed by others. Messages can be sent and received when the track is running.
When using the app to view other tracks you can pin your own position and see where you are relative to the track you are viewing.

The app uses the GPS to get position data and use the data connection (4G/5G/Wi-Fi) to send and receive data.

LocaToWeb is great to use professionally or for business purposes, but then a PRO account or Business Account is required!

Ratings and reviews

Bought this app to track runs while training for an ultramarathon. I find it to be too inaccurate compared to 3 other apps I am running at the same time! Why so different? My Garmin watch, Fitbit, and A-GPS (app on the phone) where all within 0.2 KM on a recent 16K run while this app showed a total distance of 17.6K! Other runs are all off by 5-8%, whether I pick high, normal, or low frequency for updates. The website is OK and useful for location. But distance is consistently too high.

I've been looking for an app which will allow my group to track our progress on a charity hike in real time, and embed it on our website. Update: Language chosen is English. Date is displayed in French; Mai instead of May. Update: Yes, it was the website, which is where the embedded track comes from, so it showed incorrectly when embedded on our website. Fixed now. Thanks.

This is an absolutely fantastic app, and service. I use it all the time when out on motorbike rides, let's me have real time tracking some people can follow my progress. Great features include group setting to follow a group of people on the same route. Never had any issues, app runs perfectly.
