About this app

Download the Blender Addon/Plugin On Gumroad:
https://blender-addons.gumroad.com/l/blender_camera_controller_addon

Blender Camera Controller is an add-on designed for artists and studios that need to generate realistic camera movements. By using your smartphone, you can simulate camera movements as if you were holding a real camera, creating extremely realistic shakes in real-time, without the need for tracking. These movements are based on actual data captured from your phone and can be recorded in real-time, baking them as keyframes in your animation.

The app also allows you to move the camera using two joysticks: one controls forward, sideways, and backward movements, while the other controls the camera’s height. Additionally, with the option to send rotation/movement data from the active camera, you can direct the camera’s orientation while using the joysticks to generate translations.

You can also create keyframes in your scene at specific points in the animation and use your phone to generate only the camera’s rotational movements. This is a highly useful feature, but due to Blender’s limitations, there might be some lag when recording the movements. This is an issue within Blender itself, and I plan to report it to see if a developer can find a solution. However, once baked, these lags will no longer be visible.

Hardware and Performance:
App performance depends mainly on your phone’s hardware. Because the app handles a large amount of data, mid-range to high-end devices are recommended. Streaming works best on high-performance phones, providing lower latency and higher FPS.

For the best connection, use 5 GHz Wi-Fi or faster in an obstacle-free environment, or connect via USB tethering. During recording, your computer must also be capable of running the Blender scene smoothly at its configured FPS. For heavier scenes, you may need to temporarily disable demanding elements such as simulations and rigs.

The app works incredibly, but my only problem with it is that the AR world tracking does not seem to work. I purchased the monthly premium subscription because I thought the demo just wasn't working, but it turns out it's the paid version as well.

Hello, this is likely a bug of your ARCore; the Demo is exactly the same application, just with limitations on recording and World Tracking. Please check if "Google Play Services for AR" is up to date on your phone. I noticed your device seems to be having ARCore issues, please send an email so I can help you, the email address is in the Help tab

This app is incredibly annoying. It makes you pay for any useful features such as actually recording movements from a phone. Would highly recommend using a different app.

As explained at various points, the demo is intended to test whether your phone, network, and computer can support all the features. Thanks for commenting.

Honestly.. it's great so far. Except not a big fan of monthly subscription. Personally.

There is a permanent option on Gumroad, linked to version 2.

What’s new

NEW FEATURE - ADDON:
- Added a live JPEG quality selector with settings from 100% to 10%, defaulting to 80%. Changes apply to newly encoded frames without restarting Camera Streaming.

ADJUSTMENTS - ADDON:
- Replaced the previous OpenCV JPEG encoder with simplejpeg, backed by libjpeg-turbo, to reduce image-conversion overhead while preserving the existing MJPEG streaming workflow
