Chessmate helps you learn chess openings by repetition. Study curated opening lines, review them before they fade, and challenge your recall on the board until the moves start to stick.

Openings are hard because reading a line once is not the same as remembering it in a game. Chessmate turns opening study into a simple training loop:

- Study the idea behind each move
- Review lines you have learned
- Challenge your recall from real board positions
- Track progress as more opening lines become familiar
- Build practical opening memory without engine clutter

Chessmate is made for players who already play online but feel unsure in the opening. Instead of dropping you into a database, it gives you curated theory and asks for the next move at the right moment.

What’s new

We've added themed courses for classic opening traps, plus Theory and Trap filters for browsing the catalog. Onboarding now teaches new players one line and asks them to play it again from memory. We also improved chessboard animations and trainer reliability, including a fix for duplicate moves when dragging pieces.
