MoonRef is a complete lunar companion that runs entirely on your device, with no internet connection and no GPS required.

WHAT IT SHOWS
- The current moon phase for any date, with the exact illuminated percentage, the Moon's age in days, waxing or waning, and its distance from Earth.
- Moonrise and moonset times for your location. Choose a city from the built-in list or type your own latitude and longitude. Your choice is saved.
- A scrollable month calendar that draws the phase of the Moon for every day and moves freely across past and future months.
- Countdowns to the next full moon and the next new moon, plus the dates of the upcoming principal phases (new, first quarter, full, last quarter).
- A short, useful description of every phase, and the traditional almanac name for each full moon, such as the Wolf Moon and the Harvest Moon.

HOW IT IS CALCULATED
Phase, illumination and the principal-phase dates come from an abridged version of the algorithms in Jean Meeus's Astronomical Algorithms. The illuminated fraction is accurate to a fraction of a percent and the phase dates to within a minute or two. Moonrise and moonset are found by tracking the Moon's altitude across the day.
