The eternal flame that kept the evil spirits out of the village has been stolen. The forest has closed over the road. And Sango, who is thunder, takes up his axe.
SANGO: THE THUNDER GOD is a painted 2D action-platformer built on Yoruba mythology. Fight through four worlds and twenty levels, bring down four guardians, and call the storm itself onto your enemies.
WIELD THE THUNDER
• A three-hit axe chain that ends in a heavy blow, a ground slam from the air, and a dash that puts you out of reach.
• Hold the strike to throw a lightning bolt.
• CALL THE STORM: the sky darkens and a dozen bolts hammer everything on screen.
• RUIN: a detonation of fire that throws enemies back and leaves them burning.
FOUR WORLDS, FOUR GUARDIANS
• The Evil Forest — a night forest where the flame was carried, held by Olúiná, the Keeper of the Flame.
• The Poisoned Wellspring — the river runs black; Òkúodò, the Drowned Spirit, floods the arena.
• The Warlord's Stronghold — a fortress whose gate has never opened from outside; Jagunìkà the Warlord charges, faster the angrier he gets.
• Beyond the Mountains — a climb no one has made, guarded by Olúòkúta, the Mountain Guardian, his boulders and his spears.
Every boss has its own phases, a roar, and an arena that turns against you.
A STORY TOLD PROPERLY
• A twelve-panel animated prologue and a cutscene before every world, narrated by a Yoruba elder's voice.
• The Wise One waits in every level with a word of advice and a piece of the story.
• Enemies that follow you between ledges, birds that dive, snakes, spikes and rolling boulders.
THE REAL MYTHOLOGY, SOURCED
• Sango's axe is the òṣé Ṣàngó — carved wood with twin blades, drawn from museum collections.
• Collect 32 scroll cards through the levels. Each carries a fact about Ṣàngó, Ọ̀yọ́ and the Yoruba world, and each names its source on the card: Samuel Johnson's History of the Yorubas, UNESCO, the Brooklyn Museum, the Met, Encyclopaedia Britannica.
• An artefact gallery of eleven museum pieces — dance wands, beaded crowns, divination trays.
• The villains are original creations. No òrìṣà is cast as a demon.
THE UNENDING STORM
• Finish the story to unlock Survival: endless waves in a shifting arena, with daily, weekly and all-time leaderboards.
GROW INTO THE THUNDER
• Five milestone upgrades across the journey: a quicker storm, a wider ruin, a dash that cuts out of a swing, twin bolts.
• Elite enemies guard the later fights, and every world hardens the ones you know.
• Three difficulties: Novice, Warrior and Thunder God.
MADE FOR YOUR PHONE
• Touch controls designed for landscape play, or a gamepad.
• Screen shake, flash and time effects each have their own accessibility setting.
• Playable offline. Optional rewarded videos let you continue where you fell — never forced, never mid-fight.
