The Life and Suffering of Sir Brante is a narrative-driven RPG that tells of the hardships of a commoner's Lot in a realm of dark fantasy. Join the main character, Sir Brante, on a journey through the various stages of life and guide your protagonist as his personality is being forged by the cruel injustices of a society divided by class and ruled by outdated traditions. This is a story of a merciless world that punishes those who violate its laws... and the one man who dares to challenge the old order.

Born a commoner with no rights or title, you were never fated for an easy existence. Changing your destiny and becoming a true heir to the Brante family name will put you at odds with the ancient customs and foundations. Go the distance from birth until true death, writing a history of great upheavals, monumental experiences, and difficult choices.

Key features:

Gripping narrative
The gods once bestowed the truth of the Lots unto the realm of mortals, and the Imperial law now demands that every person's life be determined by their estate. The nobles rule, the clergy offer counsel and punish those led astray from the one true path, while the common folk suffer and toil away for the glory of the Empire. You may accept this fate, but it is also within your power to alter the existing world order forever.

Your choice is not an illusion
All of your character's deeds, acquired skills, and the consequences of his actions add up to form a plot that is unique to the current playthrough. Every decision has a price, and you will be held accountable throughout the entire journey. Protect your family and loved ones, reach out for the reins of the state, or challenge the old order – make your choice and witness the aftermath.

Fight for survival

A path full of hardships
The first complete walkthrough can take you upwards of 15 hours! Numerous branching paths that affect the unfolding story will make every playthrough a unique experience: become a noble judge, learn the ways of the inquisition, plot a revolution as a member of a secret society, or embrace an entirely different purpose. Destiny itself shall bend to your will!

Ratings and reviews

Really great game, plot is excellent, experience is smooth with nice artwork, choices definitely have consequences. Criticism: not enough checkpoints. Restarting a chapter to take different decisions is long and tedious. Many consequences are overly stat based rather than specific decision based, which narrows gameplay into a limited set of options that you can actually play. MULTIPLE moments where I couldn't actually make any choices of my own, because my stats limited me to one option only!!!

This is quite possibly the best game I have ever played (unfortunately for my productive side also the most addictive). It costs $5 for the full version but there's a demo so I'd highly recommend trying it out.

There seems to be a bug where Stephan Brante appears in the event "Invitation to the Ballroom" even after I killed him in the duel. Nonetheless, I love this game. I hope the bug gets fixed soon.
