Yalla is an Israeli app for learning spoken Arabic (the Levantine dialect, the language actually spoken here) and also for learning Hebrew, in both directions: Hebrew speakers learn spoken Arabic, and Arabic speakers learn Hebrew. The interface is fully available in both Hebrew and Arabic.
Why is Yalla different?
• Voice above all. You don't need to know how to read Arabic. Every word is heard aloud, and every sentence is accompanied by a clear Hebrew transcription. You learn to speak and understand by ear, just like children learn a language at home.
• 4 teachers who are characters. Each teacher has their own name, personality, and voice. You choose who will accompany you, and the character really speaks to you the whole way. And also: free voice conversations with teachers, in real time.
• Spoken Arabic, not literary. No language from news releases. Sentences that you can say tomorrow morning in the market, at work, with neighbors and friends.
• Hebrew for Arabic speakers. The exact same method, in the other direction: everyday Hebrew with voice and transcription in Arabic, and a full interface in Arabic.
