Altimeter Compass is a simple outdoor reference tool that displays altitude and direction using sensors available on your Android device.
WHAT THIS APP SHOWS
• GPS altitude
Estimated elevation from the device location (GPS/network), when location permission is granted and a position fix is available. Approximate accuracy may be shown when provided by the system.
• Barometric altitude
Estimated elevation from the device barometer (pressure sensor), when that sensor is available. If your device has no barometer, this reading will not be available.
• Compass heading
Direction relative to magnetic north, when a compatible orientation/compass sensor is available.
• Coordinates
Latitude and longitude when a location fix is available.
• Light and dark theme
Switch the on-screen appearance for your preference.
IMPORTANT LIMITATIONS (PLEASE READ)
• This app is for personal outdoor reference only. It is not a certified surveying, mapping, aviation, marine, or professional navigation instrument.
• Altitude and heading values depend on device hardware, sensor quality, GPS reception, weather/air pressure, magnetic interference, and Android location services. Readings can be delayed, incomplete, or inaccurate.
• GPS works best outdoors with a clear view of the sky. Indoors, underground, among tall buildings, or in poor weather, altitude and location may be unavailable or unreliable.
• Compass readings can be affected by nearby metal, magnets, cases, and electromagnetic interference. Calibrate your device compass if prompted by the system.
• Do not rely on this app as the sole source of information for safety-critical decisions, emergency response, legal boundary determination, or professional work.
PERMISSIONS
• Location (approximate/precise): used only to obtain your current position and GPS-based altitude. Core altitude/compass features that do not require GPS can still be limited without it.
No account is required to use the app.
By using Altimeter Compass, you understand that displayed values are estimates from device sensors and system services, and should be treated as approximate outdoor reference information.
