About this app

AM Heist is an alarm clock for people who turn the alarm off in their sleep and wake up an hour late.

There is no snooze button. When the alarm rings you get a job: crack a safe, run a cipher, sweep a room, or get out of bed and put real distance down. The alarm does not stop until the job is done. That is the whole idea, and it is the only thing that reliably works on a heavy sleeper.

Eight sleep sounds: box fan, white noise, brown noise, rain on the roof, ocean waves, crickets at night, a crackling fire, and distant thunder. Set how long it runs and it fades out on its own — and it is always silenced when the alarm fires.

■ NO ADS. NO ACCOUNT.

AM Heist contains no advertising and no account system, and we run no tracking of our own. Your alarms, your streak, your vault and your history are stored on your phone and nowhere else, because there is no server to send them to. The camera missions are processed on your device by Google ML Kit — no photo or camera frame is uploaded or written to your photo library. ML Kit does send Google basic performance diagnostics; our privacy policy explains exactly what.

■ IT WILL NOT HOLD YOUR PHONE HOSTAGE

AM Heist does not use the accessibility service and is not a device administrator. It cannot stop you leaving the app, cannot stop you switching your phone off, and cannot stop you uninstalling it. An alarm should be hard to ignore, not hard to escape.

■ WHAT IS FREE

The free version is a real alarm clock, not a demo. Your wake-up time, repeat days, volume, vibration, auto-silence, the Crack the Safe mission, two alarm tones, a sleep sound, the morning checklist and your full wake-up history all work without paying.

AM Heist Plus adds unlimited alarms, all eight missions, stacked missions, all eight alarm tones, all eight sleep sounds, and a King James verse alongside your morning note.

Each one is requested the first time you use the feature that needs it, and the app works without the optional ones.

What’s new

If you're using your phone when the alarm goes off, you can now tap "Start mission" right from the notification. Also: a new option to keep battery saving from delaying your alarm, fixes for the mission screen, and a small spelling fix.
