About this app

Nobody keeps a diary going.

It falls apart after three weeks, for everyone — because a blank page in the evening is a debt you owe. But anyone can say what a day was, once they are shown a picture of it.

That is all Yesta does. Every morning it shows you this calendar day from all your earlier years and asks one question: what happened today? One sentence is enough. A year from now it will be there again — next to the pictures from today.

That is how a diary comes about without you ever starting one.

WHAT YOU WRITE IS YOURS

• A note for every day — including days without a single photo
• Speak instead of typing: recognition runs on your device
• Letters to later: a few lines to a day that hasn't happened yet. Until then the letter stays sealed — no preview, no hint
• Add the days that matter: birthdays, anniversaries, days of remembrance. Yesta reminds you even when there are no photos of them
• Backup to a folder you choose — and a way back

YOUR LIFE BY DATE, NOT BY ALBUM

• Every day of the past years is reachable — not only the ones an algorithm considers highlights
• A calendar across all years, showing at a glance which months are full
• Your chapters: the weeks you spent somewhere else, read off the dates and places of your photos
• The whole day as a gallery or a slideshow, photos and videos

AND FINDING IT AGAIN

• By what is in the picture: beach, Christmas, food, mountain
• By your own words from your notes
• By year, month and day — or all of it at once
• By people, if you agree: whoever stood in front of the camera often gets a row of their own, and you give the name. The calendar then shows every day someone was there. Where Yesta mixes up two people or lists one twice, you split or join them yourself

All of it runs on your device. No picture and no face goes anywhere — there is no route out.

SHARING YOUR WAY

• One day across five years as a single picture: the shots stacked like instant photos, the years written by hand
• Or the whole day as a file for another phone: the best photos, scaled down and without location. Anyone with Yesta gets them on exactly that day

NO ACCOUNT. NO CLOUD. NO SUBSCRIPTION.

Yesta reads your photo library directly on the device. There is no server, no account, no sign-up.

And this isn't just a promise, it's verifiable: Yesta does not request the INTERNET permission at all. You'll find the list on this page under "App permissions". Without it, an Android app cannot open a network connection — not the app, and not any library inside it. Yesta works the same in airplane mode as it does otherwise.

We don't see your photos. We couldn't if we wanted to.

Are your pictures only in Google Photos now? Yesta reads an archive from Google Takeout — that too without a network.

REMINDERS WITHOUT NAGGING

• A home screen widget that changes every day
• At most one notification a day — and only when the day really has something in it. On ordinary days it stays quiet
• Both can be switched off

TIDY UP WHILE YOU LOOK BACK

Photographed receipts, ID cards and screenshots don't become the picture of the day, and of ten near-identical shots the best one comes first. Whatever you don't want to see any more, you hide. Whatever should go, you move to your gallery's trash — you can bring it back for thirty days. Scanned photos get their date from you.

Yesta runs on Android 10 and later.
One sentence a day, next year you'll read it again. And letters to later.

What’s new

The slideshow now has music.

Six tracks are included, or pick your own song from your phone. You set the pace. In the shared video your videos play briefly, with a title at the start and a greeting at the end. With "Share to Instagram" you can also pick music from Instagram.

Everything stays on your phone, as always.
