About this app

Yoti Digital ID Connect ID Checker helps retail and venue staff verify a customer’s digital ID in seconds with a simple QR scan. It will confirm the digital ID is genuine and that the customer meets the required age, without collecting personal details.

The app has been certified against the UK Government’s Digital Identity and Attributes Trust Framework, and once the Mandatory Licensing Conditions have been updated to permit digital proof of age for alcohol sales, it will be the compliant way for businesses to check digital IDs.

Before that change, the ID Checker app can be used to verify digital IDs for other age-restricted products - e.g. vapes, energy drinks, tattoos and 15+ or 18+ films.

How it works

- Scan the QR code shown on the customer’s digital ID
- Instantly confirm the digital ID is real and whether they are old enough
- Get an anonymous report of the number of checks completed and the results
- Customers do not need an internet connection to show their digital ID

Note: until the Mandatory Licensing Conditions are updated to permit digital proof of age for alcohol sales the app will show “Over 18” with a red indicator to clarify it cannot be used for alcohol purchases. It can still be used for other age-restricted products and services.
