About this app

Z3DMR turns your phone into a Digital Mobile Radio (DMR) transceiver for the amateur-radio
network. Connect over the internet, key up, and talk to licensed operators anywhere in the
world - no extra hardware required.

Built by Radio Amateur Club Z37CPR (Macedonia) to connect operators across the DMR network
without geographical limits. No ads, no in-app purchases, no analytics and no
crash-reporting SDKs.

Z3DMR is an independent client. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by
BrandMeister, FreeDMR, TGIF or any DMR network operator; it simply speaks the open protocols
those networks already support.

WHAT YOU CAN DO
• Push-to-talk over any DMR master server (BrandMeister, FreeDMR, DMR+ IPSC2, TGIF and other
Homebrew-protocol networks) - and now over Open DMR Terminal (ODTP) hotspots and servers
• Group calls on talkgroups and private calls to individual operators
• Static and dynamic talkgroups - hold one via options, or open TGIF-style groups on demand
• New: scan - mark several talkgroups and contacts, and the radio listens to all of them,
stopping on a call and holding it long enough for you to answer (Open DMR Terminal)
• Talkgroup and DMR-ID directories with search, favourites, recents and country flags; point
the DMR-ID directory at your own source if you prefer
• Live activity log with user-selectable columns
• Back up and restore your talkgroups, contacts, servers and favourites to a file
• Multiple connection profiles - switch identities and networks in a tap

APRS
• Send and receive APRS text messages
• New: station map - the APRS stations around you with distance, bearing, speed and comment,
and a message to any of them from its card
• Optional position beaconing with SmartBeaconing (off by default)

CAR MODE
• A large-button driving screen with big call details and tap-anywhere PTT
• Opens by itself when you plug in to power - or, new, when your car connects over Bluetooth

MADE FOR REAL OPERATING
• Hold-to-talk or tap-to-talk PTT
• Optional hardware / Bluetooth button binding - PTT, previous/next talkgroup, target, scan and
car mode (see the accessibility note below)
• Full D-pad and hardware-remote navigation on every screen
• Busy-channel lock, and transmit time-out with visual and audio warnings
• Auto-connect and auto-reconnect when the network changes
• Runs in the background with a status notification and incoming-call alerts

AUDIO THAT WORKS
• AMBE voice via the on-device MD-380 vocoder (one-time firmware download)
• Automatic gain control, manual RX/TX gain, and a high-pass mic filter

YOURS, PRIVATE BY DESIGN
• Profiles stay on your device; master-server passwords are encrypted with the Android Keystore
• Location is optional and is never asked for at startup - only when you switch on a feature
that uses it. Bluetooth is asked for only by Car Mode's Bluetooth trigger
• No advertising, no analytics SDKs, no crash-reporting SDKs
• Fully localized into 26 languages

ACCESSIBILITY SERVICE (OPTIONAL, OFF BY DEFAULT)
Z3DMR includes an optional accessibility service so a phone volume key can act as your PTT or any
other radio control you bound to it - channel step, target mode, scan, car mode - while the app is
minimized or the screen is off, without changing the media volume.
It detects only the keys you bind in Settings - it does not read screen content, does not record
audio, and collects, stores and shares no data. It receives no accessibility events at all. You
switch it on yourself in Android's Accessibility settings and can turn it off there at any time.
The app is fully usable without it.

IMPORTANT
Z3DMR is a tool for licensed amateur-radio operators. You need a valid amateur-radio licence, a
DMR ID and access to a DMR network to use it. As with all amateur radio, transmissions are not
encrypted and are heard by other operators on the talkgroup - this is how amateur radio works.

very easy to use and set up! interface is super clean too. one suggestion would be to add support for switching input source as I cannot get the input from my Bluetooth headset working when connected and there are no controls built in that I could find in settings.

the interface looks good! it's clean simple to use very straightforward. However the audio on transmit is horrible on my RFinder B1 Plus. VOXDMR works excellent on the same device. the receive audio is fine that's no problem. 73 N9KGC

Excellent for an app. I have used some others but for DMR rely on Z3DMR. Great dashboard, easy setup .
