Indian rural women are widely involved in agricultural activities. The average contribution of women in agriculture is estimated at 55 to 66 percent of the total labor, with most of the farm activities being intensive labor, monotonous and repetitive, usually done by women. In some agricultural activities such as processing and storage, the participation of women is much higher than men. Keeping in mind the important role of women in agriculture, advanced agricultural machinery has been developed to increase efficiency by reducing physical fatigue in activities like sowing, transplanting, harvesting and storage.
