About this app

Zenbox – Your digital detox, reimagined.

Zenbox helps you take control of your digital life again – with a combination of a smart app and a physical device. For everyone who wants more time for what truly matters.

Here's how it works:
With the Zenbox app and the accompanying NFC device, you can selectively block the apps that distract you – temporarily, with a single tap.

You decide which tools remain available. The rest disappear until you tap the box again.

Features:

– Create individual sessions:
Set up different digital detox periods – for work, leisure, family, or simply "offline."

– Customized app blocking:

Choose which apps are blocked and which remain allowed for each session.

– Timer & goal tracking:
Set conscious time goals for your digital detox – and track your progress.

– Build streaks:
Every day counts! Stay on track and build your streaks – motivating, fun, and rewarding.

100% private:

Your data stays where it belongs – on your smartphone. Nothing is stored externally.

Important:
You need a Zenbox device (NFC hardware) to use the app. The app cannot be used without the physical device.

Less scrolling. More being.

Make your smartphone what it should be again: a tool – not a constant distraction.

The Accessibility API is used to:

- detect the opening of blocked apps
- overlay the screen when a blocked app is launched
- gently guide the user back (blocking screen)

WEBSITE FILTER (VPN PERMISSION)

Zenbox can block individual websites that you add to your blocklist. The app uses the Android VPN Service interface to set up a local filter on your device. On Android, this is the only way to selectively block individual websites – without this feature, Zenbox would have to block the entire browser.

Here's how the filter works:

• It applies exclusively to browser apps. All other apps are unaffected.

• Only the browser's DNS queries pass through the filter, not your actual data traffic.

• Addresses on your blocklist are blocked directly on the device; all others are forwarded unchanged to your device's normal DNS server.

• No data traffic is redirected, intercepted, stored, analyzed, or transmitted to us or third parties.

• The filter is only active while a focus session you initiated is running or a limit you set has been reached. Afterward, it deactivates automatically.

Zenbox is not a VPN app and does not connect to external servers.
Your digital fast, reimagined.

What’s new

Alarm for every weekday: set your own bedtime and wake-up time per day in sleep mode, single days can skip the alarm entirely.
Blocking now also stops audio and mini video windows of blocked apps.
New Quick Settings tile: start a focus session right from the lock screen.
Scanning improved: new guidance and a scan diagnosis under Help. The app now warns you when a payment card in your phone case interferes.
Plus many small improvements.
