About this app

Focus4Life is a Pomodoro timer, a real task planner and a distraction blocker in one calm app. Its timings and limits come from published research and from the original authors of each technique — the research-backed settings carry an (i) with the source behind them.

No ads. No account. Works completely offline.

FOUR FOCUS RHYTHMS, EACH WITH A REASON
• Classic — 25 / 5 / 15 min, Cirillo's original Pomodoro Technique
• Deep Work — 50 / 10 / 30 min, after Cal Newport's "Deep Work"
• Sprint — 15 / 3 / 10 min, a low-resistance way into a hard task
• Ultradian — 90 / 20 min, the Basic Rest-Activity Cycle (Kleitman; Lavie)
Pro adds fully custom durations.

FOCUS LOCK — IT ACTUALLY STOPS YOU
• Flip to focus — put your phone face-down to work. Pick it up mid-session and it buzzes until you set it back down, even with the app closed
• Block distracting apps — open one mid-session and you meet a calm "Return to focus" screen, or a firm shield that holds until the session ends. You pick the apps, and you pick how firm
• Quiet notifications — Do Not Disturb switches on while you focus and off when you stop. Your own Do Not Disturb exceptions are left exactly as you set them, and the end-of-phase cue still reaches you
Focus Lock only ever runs during a focus phase — never during a break, never while you're paused, and never without a permission you granted yourself.

A REAL TASK PLANNER, NOT A CHECKLIST
• Priorities, due dates and repeats — daily, weekdays, weekly or monthly, ending never, on a date, or after a set number of times
• Estimate a task and the app works out how many pomodoros it needs
• Today, Week and Month views. On tablets and Chromebooks, Week and Month list your actual tasks under each day
• Notes on any task
• A gentle heads-up when one task passes two hours, and a prompt to split anything past four — deep focus has daily limits (Boksem & Tops; Ericsson)
• Nothing reschedules itself behind your back. Overdue work is a count and a button, never a scolding

PROJECTS WITH SOMETHING TO FILL
Group tasks into colour-coded projects, each with an optional note on when and where you'll do the work — an “implementation intention”, shown to make follow-through markedly more likely (Gollwitzer, 1999). Give a project a goal image, estimate its tasks, and the image uncovers itself as you focus your way through the estimate.

A GARDEN THAT REMEMBERS
Every finished session uncovers part of a hidden picture, and longer sessions uncover more. It is a quiet record of effort — not a leaderboard, and not a plant that dies if you take a day off. Missing a day never takes anything away.

HONEST STATS
Minutes focused, sessions completed, tasks done, and your longest single session — for today and the last 7 days. Pro adds 30-day and all-time history, plus a breakdown of which apps interrupted you.

BUILT FOR FOCUS, NOT FOR YOUR DATA
• Local-first — no account, no sign-up, nothing in the cloud. Your data stays on your device
• No ads, anywhere, ever
• Light, dark and system themes
• English and Tiếng Việt
• Phone, tablet and Chromebook — and there are Mac and Windows apps too

FREE, AND PRO
Free covers the whole core loop: unlimited focus sessions, all four research presets, the entire task planner with repeats and notes, two projects, the Garden, and flip-to-focus.

Pro is a one-time purchase — no subscription, no recurring fee — and unlocks unlimited projects, app blocking and Do Not Disturb, 30-day and all-time stats, custom timer durations, and your own photos in the Garden. It comes with a 7-day trial that asks for no payment card and simply ends.

Whether you're studying for exams, working remotely against a wall of notifications, guarding deep work, beating procrastination, or you simply concentrate better in clear intervals, Focus4Life helps you focus without the anxiety.

What’s new

Notes on any task
"Description" is now Notes — roomier, and there for where you got stuck or what to try next. Its first line shows in the timer's task picker.

A clearer prompt for repeating tasks
Editing a repeat now asks the same plain question as deleting one: this occurrence, or this and future ones. Moving an occurrence's date no longer discards your other edits.

Fixed: in the Garden, the PRO badge covered the add-photo icon instead of sitting on its corner.
