Most solitaire games shuffle and hope. Some deal backwards from a solved deck, which guarantees a win but leaves the cards looking arranged rather than dealt. We shuffle first and then solve, so every deal is both random and winnable. A lost hand is a puzzle you didn't crack, not a deal that was never winnable in the first place. If you'd rather take your chances, switch to a random shuffle any time.
