Learn to read and write braille from the very first dot. Braille Alphabet teaches the braille cell, letters, numbers, punctuation and UEB grade 2 contractions — Unified English Braille, the code used in most English-speaking countries.

For sighted beginners, parents and teachers of blind children, braille transcribers and anyone who wants to read the dots on lift buttons and door signs. Works offline, and every lesson is free.

HOW A LESSON WORKS

• Each new sign starts with an introduction card: a big cell with numbered dots. Hear it spoken or feel it as vibration
• Then you read the sign, then write it yourself by tapping dots in a 2x3 cell
• A question you miss comes back at the end of the level

A MISTAKE EXPLAINS ITSELF

Most braille apps tell you that you were wrong. This one tells you why. After every mistake you get a rule card: what the rule is called, why the answer is what it is, and examples. One tap adds the sign to your review deck.

PRACTICE THAT STICKS

• Spaced repetition (Leitner boxes): what you keep getting wrong comes back sooner
• Mixed review of everything you have learned, twelve cards by default, about a minute and a half
• Dictation: hear a sign and write it without seeing it
• Chapter challenges: clear the chapter with fewer than three mistakes

• The alphabet, built by decades: learn ten shapes and get twenty-six letters

MORE THAN ENGLISH

• Ukrainian and Russian braille as separate codes, with whole-word practice on words you meet on real signs: exit, lift, floor, pharmacy
• National braille, grade 1, for German, Spanish, French, Italian, Portuguese, Polish, Czech, Slovak, Swedish and Turkish: letters, numbers and punctuation (Turkish: letters and some punctuation so far)
• The braille code is chosen separately from the interface language

SIGN DECODER

In front of a lift button or a door plate? Tap the dots you feel or see in the grid and the app shows the sign. Save it with a note and find it later in history. No camera, no connection needed.

WRITING PRACTICE

Type any word and see it in braille letter by letter, with capital and number signs placed for you.
