This application of the National University of Costa Rica issues a notification each time SINAMOT generates a Tsunami Threat Report and allows the user to see the details of that Report, as well as the history of previous Reports. The App allows the user to quickly share SINAMOT reports on their social networks, emails, etc.
In addition, it provides directions to reach a safe point in case the user is within the tsunami flood zone. This can be done at the time of an evacuation or as a planning tool.
It allows consulting the tide predictions for Quepos, Puntarenas, Isla del Coco, Nacascolo, Tambor, Rincón de Osa, Limón and Moín, for the dates selected by the user.
The user can send a report in case of observing any abnormal behavior of the sea in which he can include photographs.
From the App you can access various web pages related to the marine-coastal issue in Costa Rica.
WARNINGS
1. The user can disable notifications, but then they will NOT be notified when a threat report is generated.
2. This app CANNOT be the only means of receiving information during a tsunami event. Each family, company and community must have at least 3 redundant means to receive this information.
3. Users are recommended to consult the nearest tsunami safe point even if there is no tsunami evacuation and use this information in their family or business evacuation plan, since at the time of evacuation the App may fail like any other tool technological.
4. Remember to always look for information in official media.
