The ALS app is the leading digital health application for people with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). The app is used by over 1,000 affected people in Germany and offers the following functions:
- RECORDING THE INDIVIDUAL COURSE OF ALS: By answering the ALS functional scale, the individual course of the disease is displayed and the speed of the disease is estimated.
- NF-L AS A BIOMARRKER OF DISEASE ACTIVITY: The analysis results of the biomarker Neurofilament light chain (NfL) are displayed in a diagram and interpreted depending on age in the course of the disease.
- MY COURSE: The development of ALS can be assessed based on the course of the disease and the initial symptoms. The gradients can be recorded in the app.
- VITAL STATUS: The most important vital signs for breathing and nutrition - measured by the body mass index, the vital capacity of the lungs and the peak cough - can be recorded in the app.
- CHRONICLE OF THE DISEASE PROCESS: The disease phases and important dates of ALS are presented in a chronicle. Appropriate support offers are presented during the phases of illness.
- RECOMMENDATIONS FOR INDIVIDUAL CARE: You will receive recommendations for your individual care with special aids and medications, which will give you more knowledge and autonomy over your treatment.
- NOTIFY YOUR NEED FOR AIDS: If you need aids, you can communicate this need to your ALS pilots via the app.
- NOTIFY YOUR NEED FOR MEDICATION: If you need medication, you can also communicate this need to your ALS pilots via the app.
- OVERVIEW OF AID SUPPLY: all current and past supplies of aids are displayed.
- SCAN AND UPLOAD FUNCTION: Recipes and photos of the care situation can be scanned or captured and uploaded to the patient account in the outpatient partner portal.
- NEWS: News feed with news about the disease, research, treatment and care of ALS.
- ALS PODCAST: The podcast offers current information on amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS).
- ALS-PEN: Recording of finger strength and finger motor skills using the ALS-Pen.
- DIGITAL SPEECH AND MIMIC ANALYSIS: the speech and facial muscles affected during the course of ALS are recorded via the smartphone's camera and microphones and analyzed for changes.
- QUESTIONNAIRES: care and therapies can be evaluated using questionnaires.
