About this app
Smart VDS is a professional application for the digital recording and assessment of vehicle damage. Workshops, insurers, and appraisers can use it to manage the entire process, from the initial photo to the completed assessment, all within a single app.
Workshop employees can record a new case in just a few steps: scan the vehicle registration document, enter the owner's data, select the type of damage, and photograph the affected areas of the vehicle. All images are automatically uploaded to encrypted cloud storage and are immediately accessible to authorized colleagues. The case list can be filtered and searched by status, ensuring that even with numerous assessments running simultaneously, it's always clear what the next steps are.
For the actual assessment, Smart VDS offers a live video function that allows an external appraiser to view the vehicle remotely in real time. The on-site employee opens a virtual room, the appraiser joins from their workstation, and sees the high-resolution image from the vehicle's camera. During a call, the user can take snapshots that are directly linked to the process, turn the flashlight on and off, or focus the camera on a specific point. If needed, the user can switch between the front and rear cameras with a tap, and the transmission quality can be adjusted to the available bandwidth.
Smart VDS distinguishes between workshop employees and experts, displaying only the functions relevant to each role. Registration is secure via email address and a unique 6-digit verification code, eliminating the need to save or transmit passwords. Multiple locations within a workshop group can be managed separately.
All content and personal data are stored exclusively in German data centers and transmitted using encryption. Login credentials and session tokens are securely stored in the Android Keystore. Smart VDS is a business application intended for registered workshops, insurers, and appraisal offices. Access is provided by app-simple GmbH; self-registration via the Play Store is not possible.
