About this app

Bahnsparer helps you save time and money on German rail journeys, from search to arrival. The app compares Deutsche Bahn connections and other rail operators independently and without requiring an account. Compare fares, journey time and past punctuality before you book. Watch your travel day and follow the selected journey live.

BEFORE BOOKING

• Fixed date: Open exactly your travel day, including the remaining departures today.
• Date range: Compare the cheapest connections found across up to 14 days.
• Best fares: The app uses DB's daily best-fare search for each travel day, helping you find lower Sparpreis fares in the calendar.
• Fare and journey time: Compare connections by price, duration, changes, occupancy, facilities and disruptions.
• Past punctuality: Put trains and transfers in context using previous journeys. These figures are not a prediction.
• Fares and travellers: Include BahnCards, several people, children, a dog, a bicycle and your chosen class.
• More railways: Find services from FlixTrain, Westbahn, Leo Express, GoVolta, European Sleeper and Snälltåget, plus international journeys from ČD, MÁV and PKP.
• The same journey for less: Automatically compare the selected journey at five international ticket shops. You can disable every shop in Profile, while DB remains available for booking.
• Seat reservations: Compare DB's price with ČD, MÁV and ÖBB. ČD also reserves seats on many German ICE and IC trains. Across 158 comparable offers in the test, every one was cheaper and the typical difference was about 44 percent.
• Return trips: Compare both directions together and see the total fare.
• Booking: Open the selected departure directly with the relevant operator.

KEEP FARES IN VIEW

• Fare alert: Watch a fixed travel day or a date range. The app reports new lows or fares at your limit.
• Fare history: See observed prices and their matching connections.
• Fare guidance: Put previous lows in context without a price prediction.
• Background checks: The app checks saved travel days when Android gives it time.

FROM DEPARTURE TO ARRIVAL

• Add a journey: Save a connection from DB or another operator. Shared DB Navigator text and bahn.de links can also be imported.
• Live journey companion: Follow times, platforms, transfer risk, alternative connections and the route. Timetable data remains available when no matching live DB train can be found.
• Coach order: See the platform, coaches and open sections for your class when data is available.
• Record the arrival: Capture the actual arrival and receive a local reminder five minutes beforehand.
• Personal journey record: See recorded trains, past punctuality and total delay minutes.
• Passenger rights: After a delay of at least 60 minutes, estimate possible compensation for a single ticket.

The compensation figure is a non-binding estimate. DB decides whether a claim is valid, and you submit it there yourself.

NO BAHNSPARER ACCOUNT

Bahnsparer needs no sign-up and no email address of its own. You can optionally sign in on DB's page to import current and previous journeys. Your password is entered only there.

Saved routes, price limits, fare history and journeys remain on your device. You can delete everything in the data settings.

Free. No Bahnsparer account, no payment details, no advertising.

BOOK WITH THE OPERATOR

Bahnsparer sells no tickets. Displayed prices can change; only the price in the operator's booking system is binding.

Bahnsparer is independent and is not connected with Deutsche Bahn AG, Flix SE or any other named operator. All trademarks belong to their respective owners.

What’s new

Feeder connections get answers for the long-distance train.

• Connection details measure every ICE, IC and EC at its own arrival; the score stands on the last measurable train.
• With a Deutschlandticket the RE-plus-ICE row names the covered regional part and the remainder.
• The seat check compares against DB's fee on connections with a change, and names the train.
• When another operator runs only the ICE corridor, the app names that price; "Gesamtpreis prüfen" adds the feeder.
