About this app

ElsterSecure is the new authentication app from ELSTER.

Once set up, all you need to log in is your smartphone. You no longer need a certificate file or a user name after the initial setup.


How to set up ElsterSecure:

Log in to MeinElster as usual.
Go to "My Account".
Under “Add ElsterSecure login option” you can link the app with your MeinElster account.

If you do not yet have a MeinElster account, you can register at www.elster.de and select ElsterSecure as your login option.

Note: Authentication using ElsterSecure is currently only possible for logging into MeinElster. Third-party transmission is not yet supported.


ElsterSecure requires the following permissions:

Access to the device's camera(s): This permission is required to scan the QR code.

You have obviously tried to make the whole Elster experience as difficult and user unfriendly as possible. Well done. This is a masterpiece. I try to use Elster as little as possible, most 3rd party apps are much easier to navigate, and for 30€ a year definitely worth not having to use this complicated website. Unfortunately for some registration stuff we all have to use Elster, hence the terrible ratings it gets.

I mean this ist just ridiculous, I want only to change my steuerklasse, I got two letters by post with codes,finally I get there to do it all,activate and it asks to verify with a fingerprint,but I never use a finger print I cancelled and now its a all goes back to the beginning. Jesus its very complicated and absolutely not userfriendly with all these emails+login options and codes and verification. I think I have to do the steuerklasse change per post, wich is again ridiculous.....

I spent the whole evening trying to log in. You cannot login with only one device. There is this security loop others describe. You either see a qr code or a scanner for it, but cannot scan.... Nightmare. Tried with the camera too. Just keep getting error message 700001. Yes, I did not finish my registration, because I cannot - please see the text above. My device either offers to scan a code or gives a code, but does not allow to finish my registration.And my password is valid only 1 day more
