FTPTool is a streamlined FTP and SFTP client for Android. Connect directly to your servers from your phone, browse directories, upload and download files, and edit text and configuration files directly on the server – no cloud, no ads, and no subscription.
▸ WHO IS FTPTOOL FOR?
For web developers, webmasters, administrators, and anyone who needs to manage server files on the go or quickly make adjustments without having to boot up their laptop.
▸ WHAT FTPTOOL CAN DO
- Connect to classic FTP servers and secure SFTP servers
- Create multiple server profiles, name them, and reconnect with a single tap
- Optionally save passwords – encrypted in the Android keystore
- Browse, sort, create, rename, move, and delete files and folders
- Upload and download files between your device and server, with progress indicator
- Integrated text editor for configuration and source code files directly on the server
- Path hierarchy: a tap on the path opens a sheet with all levels – jump to them instantly
- Quick search in the current folder
- Homescreen widget with your favorite servers, three background styles
- Self-healing SFTP connection: brief network interruptions are automatically handled
▸ SECURE AND PRIVATE
- Server profiles remain on your device – no cloud, no account, no backend
- Passwords are encrypted with a hardware-bound key in the Android keystore
- Cloud backups and Device transfers for app data are explicitly disabled – to prevent server access from accidentally being transferred to other devices.
- No trackers, no analytics, no ad networks
▸ HOW TO WORK WITH FTPTOOL
1. Create a server profile: Name, host, port, username, and – optionally – password.
2. Connect: Tap the profile to connect instantly. Mark frequently used profiles as favorites.
3. Browse: Navigate through folders, use the path sheet for deep structures, open, edit, or download files.
4. Edit: Open, modify, and save text files directly in the integrated editor.
5. Upload: Move new files directly from your device's storage to the server.
6. Widget: Add favorites to your home screen and start the connection with a single tap.
▸ FTP OR SFTP?
SFTP transmits login credentials and file contents encrypted via SSH and is now standard for hosting providers. Classic FTP transfers data unencrypted due to its protocol – so please choose SFTP whenever possible. FTPTool supports both, allowing you to work with older servers as well.
▸ NO SUBSCRIPTION – ONE-TIME BUY
FTPTool is a one-time purchase and it's yours to keep. No monthly fees, no premium features behind paywalls, no ads. The app is financed solely through the one-time purchase price.
▸ PART OF THE GINITOOLS FAMILY
FTPTool is part of the GiniTools app family: lean, focused tools that excel at one specific task, rather than becoming bloated, all-purpose tools that require cloud storage. More info: https://ginitools.de
